Dear Alumnae,

For a number of years DWCL had a thriving theater arts guild, an excellent production program, and a good academic program. They are especially proud of the high quality of the productions they staged in the late 70s and early 80s, with very limited resources. They did the best they could with what we had.

The DWCL gym has defined itself as a venue for the said events and local community events as well, such as lectures, beauty pageants, and local dance or musical groups, and as a home for more "alternative" touring musicians and theatre. Virtually every musical genre has had a place on the DWCL gym in recent years.
Due to limited resources offered by the gymnasium, but inspired by the passionate drive of Divinians to participate in theater arts, the administration thought of building a mini theater which can readily acquaint Divinians and the community with ways in which the theater itself is the best laboratory to represent the idea that theater is an art and a discipline that can explore and express the concerns and hopes of every type of human community.
The structure has been conceptualized and built which occupies the entire fifth floor of the Freinadametz Building that has a seating capacity of five (500) hundred; however it has not been continued due to financial constraints. It is in this light that the ALUMNI ASSOCIATION has thought of extending support to the accomplishment of the mini theater. The association has a strong belief that the theater project is a gem where a powerhouse of DIVINIAN talent, energy and intelligence shall be showcased……. just waiting to be discovered by those hungry for theater on the cutting edge.
This proposal takes center stage this year, which shall be dubbed as A LUNCH FOR A LIVING DREAM. It shall be a day of get-together, fun-filled activities and a feast of exotic Ilocano cuisine prepared by the best chefs in town. The lunch to be served shall cost Three Hundred Fifty Pesos. The proceeds shall be used for the resumption of the mini theater construction.

Your support shall be a treasure that would really be cherished by the hopefuls, the dreamers, the gifted and the talented DIVINIANS who will create theatrical works that would make an impact on local, national and who knows, international arena!!!

We once had dreams of taking center stage, do not let that dream die; rekindle it through our future DIVINIAN performers!!!! JOIN US IN THE LUNCH FOR A LIVING DREAM on December 30, 2008 at DWCL Gymnasium.

LET’S LIVE THAT THEATRICAL DREAM …………SOON!!!!!

Jr. Williamite Editor

In celebration of their 30th year class reunion, Batch ’78 came together for three days last June 21 to 23, 2008.

The alumni had a delightful evening at the RIO GRANDE Resort, as they gave their sincerest recognition to their teachers and mentors who molded them into what they are now.
The batch likewise attended a thanksgiving mass at the DWCL College Chapel, which was followed by a hearty lunch at Johnson’s function hall.

As a gesture of gratitude to their Alma Mater, the group agreed during their get-together to donate a projector (LCD) for the High School Department which would be very useful for both teachers and the students. Thus, on August 8, 2008, a unit of INFOCUS x6 DLP with 60x60 screen projector was delivered by Mr. John Ancheta, the batch coordinator.

The High School Family was elated with the wonderful gift from the batch, for surely the teaching-learning process will be greatly benefited. DWCL is looking forward for the next batches of alumni to follow suit with the wish that they too will be able to recognize the true worth of contributing something, no matter how small it may be, to their Alma Mater so that it could continue to pursue its role as a premiere Catholic institution in this part of the country. With such token of sincerity, the young minds of today will come to value more and more their education and would keep on striving for their dreams.

The whole community of DWCL, especially the High School Department, wishes Batch ‘78 more power and more success. Their Alma Mater is truly grateful for their being true Witnesses to the Word!!

High School Batch 1978 Alumni Homecoming

-FRIENDS REUNITED-

Being able to meet and enjoy precious moments with former buddies is one common reason why many look forward to REUNIONS. Just the thought of the chance to go back in time and reminisce wonderful memories is enough for one to make it a point to be present in such rare occasion of getting together like the recently held Alumni Homecoming of DWCL ‘s High School Batch 1978. It has been 30 years but evidently the memories of high school life lingered on in their hearts keeping the group intact in spirit.

Each has trudged on separate paths to pursue their ambitions and realize their dreams, but they tried hard to find ways and means to continue keeping in touch. After graduation, some went on to study in Manila while some flew to other countries. Despite the distance, time and even circumstances, the camaraderie stayed on, being “worlds apart”, so to speak never mattered at all. They held on to the friendships built during their high school days which was made stronger as they went on with their own lives.

Thus, in celebration of their Pearl Anniversary, Batch 1978 ( 31of them were able to attend) bonded together for three days last June 21 to 23, 2008. The “once-in-a lifetime” event, was held in different venues – at their Alma Mater, DWCL chapel, where a thanksgiving mass officiated by the VP for Religious Affairs, Fr. Teody Saluba, SVD, was held, then at Rio Grande where the group spent time with former mentors who cannot help but to flash a smile with the success of the batch who are now Doctors, Engineers, Businessmen, Architect, one is member of the US Army, and some are handling key positions in government institutions.

Joining the group’s celebration are Rev. Fr. Denny D. Lucas, SVD the present Alumni Head and at the same time secretary of the alumni board, the High School Principal, Prof. Eleuberto Acedillo and his Faculty.

As everything will have to come to an end, the Batch had to say goodbye again to one another, bringing with them treasured memories. Forging a promise to continue strengthening the ties that bind them together, everyone are assured that they will see each other again……
